The Year In Review: 2011

I suppose it’s about time for a good ol’ end of the year review! I know everyone has said this a million times but – where did 2011 GO?!?! This past year has definitely been one of ups and downs, and aren’t they all? But 2011 had a few more difficult downs than we’re typically used to. On the up side? We survived our first full year of marriage. ;] (We didn’t survive the 365 project though – oops! It will be finished eventually, it just wont quite be in consecutive date order!) This is going to be a two parter, so make sure that you return to see the second part of the year. I tried so hard to squeeze everything into one post, but it just felt a bit overwhelming! I still feel like I did a much better job of condensing things than I normally do- I hate leaving out details. Have a wonderful Tuesday!

1/365 Days Of Marriage

In January we started our 365 Days of Marriage project. Take-Hart teamed up with Vicious Threads (visit the etsy shop here!) to promote hand sewn and reconstructed vintage pretties made by a friend of mine, Jennie. And Nate and I found out that- dun, dun, dun –Biscuit is actually a boy!

In February Rachie & Emmysuh made the drive from Paducah to visit Kalen & I. We had an amazingly fun girls night out, played rock band, and talked and talked about everything under the sun. Love and miss these girls! Nate and I shared our very first Valentines Day as a married couple. We went to a Jimmy Eat World show in Cincinnati. My cousin Amy visited us all the way from Florida (well, she was interning in Ohio)! And I shared an Accent/Dialect vlog – have you ever done one? Hah. So funny to see how different people say things. Also- I really enjoy the comments on this entry. Thanks Emmy!

In March we started a new Thursday tradition with friends- Trivia Night!! We’ve been pretty consistent throughout the year and, we’ve actually started winning! H-hey! We hosted a birthday celebration for a friend and danced the night away! And I did amazingly well on my brackets for March Madness, haha. Oh – and Nate and I celebrated 5 years of knowing one another. =) Nate also started coaching our nephew Ethan’s T-Ball team. So adorable.

We started off April with Nate’s birthday celebration on the 2nd and let’s just say.. it didn’t go as planned. The next few months were laced with a lot of hurt and drama. Yuck! But it’s all part of life and learning, right? On a happier note- I had my hair dyed the red I’d always wanted and we brought home a new baby bunny! I shot this fun little video one weekend while we were driving pretty back country roads- it’s one of my favorites! Brittany starred in my first (and only) guest outfit post! I need to do another of those. And then there was the tornado that swept by our house and Nate’s car accident. What an eventful month!

125/365 Days of Marriage

In May Nate and I had some fun in the yard like real home owners and did some gardening! Kristie and I attended Phlecia’s beautiful Breakfast At Tiffanies themed bridal shower. And Nate and I flew to Chicago for a long weekend of sight seeing and shopping. It was so, so wonderful and I made my favorite video ever out of all of the clips and photos I took. I also hosted my first giveaway and started the We Married Young feature! Nate and I took the plunge and got iPhones during this month as well- such a great decision.

Stay tuned for Part 2!!
