3 Octave Martini EP Launch Party + A Giveaway

3octavemartini

Today I get to participate in the release party for the new EP by Heather Laveaux, 3 Octave Martini. Heather is a lovely lady working hard to make her dream of being a musician a reality and I’m beyond thrilled to help! As a participant in her EP release party I have chosen to review the album art for 3 Octave Martini, so I asked Heather to share a little bit about her vision for the artwork and how everything came together! You’ll want to make sure that you pop over to the rest of the blogs working to bring Heather’s music to your listening ears so that you can find out all about her and her sound!

Have a listen here, but don’t leave just yet! There’s a giveaway!

What is the story behind the name of your album, 3 Octave Martini?

I came up with the name when I realized I had a 3-octave vocal range, and I loved the play on words of “3 olive martini.” As I developed my sound, it seemed right at home in a piano bar, or vintage cocktail lounge, so the imagery was a perfect fit.

How did you decide what sort of vibe you were going for in photography for the album?

The photos were taken a few weeks ago at my home in Florida, by a lovely man named Sancho. I had a very clear idea of the look I wanted to convey on the cover. It needed to give an idea of what it was all about without being cliche’ or too busy and fussy. My love for Old Hollywood glamour was the basic inspiration for my look, and I wanted that vintage vibe with a bit of an updated twist. We shot several frames and decided the closed eye was more sultry than the other expressions captured and was a better representation of the music inside.

The back cover and interior photos of the album were all taken later that day in various rooms at home. They are a bit more playful and show other facets of my personality. It was an exhausting, but fun day – I got to play with different makeup and hair looks and run amuck in my own closet.

How do you feel about finally seeing everything come together – the art and the music as one?

I did my hair and makeup, wardrobe, staging, editing, and design/layout of the album art. It’s been such a joy to see the finished product and think about all the little things that went into making it. It’s an even bigger blessing to have so many talented, supportive people helping me realize my dream, and I appreciate your being one of them.

If you would like to win a copy of 3 Octave Martini, by Heather Laveaux – you’re in luck! She just happens to be offering up one of my readers a copy of their very own! Enter below!

I thought the cover art was great – I love those black gloves – opera length, I think they are called? Really sets an elegant tone!
