When Nate and I started planning our trip to Las Vegas we both came across Yardbird Southern Table & Bar on our quest to find delicious places to eat. We always try to make a list of places we want to eat at when we travel but we don’t follow a schedule so we don’t always make it to every single place. We like to feel pretty laid back about what we’re doing and where we wind up. So I was pleasantly surprised that we ended up at one of our top restaurant picks on the first day we arrived in Vegas! I fully expected us to suddenly realize how hangry we were and end up eating at the first place we came across!
I loved the atmosphere in Yardbird. Up front, there is an area with beautiful couches perfect for lounging and enjoying a cocktail or two! And trust me- you’ll want to enjoy one (or several) here. Especially if you like bourbon! Yes, you know we had to find a bourbon bar on our trip! Their specialty bourbon cocktails are fantastic! I got the Blackberry Bourbon Lemonade – Made with Wild Turkey 81 bourbon, blackberry puree, fresh lemon, cardamom & Angostura Bitters. It came in the prettiest mason jar! Nate’s cocktail had a smokey flavor to it and came with a piece of prosciutto in it!
They’re known for their fried chicken so I made sure to get that! Mine came with fried okra on top and the most delicious honey hot sauce for dipping. You can see in the photo that the portion sizes are pretty generous! I am not ashamed to say that I ate it ALL.
After much debate and ogling of the dessert on the table next to us, we decided to order the Salted Caramel Bread Pudding. This is hands down the best bread pudding I’ve ever had. I have been dreaming about it ever since. I swore that we would go back there JUST for another round of bread pudding before we left but it never happened. Oh well, we’ll just have to make a trip back!
This is how Nate feels when he has to wait on the crazy blogger lady to photograph the food before it can be eaten. 😀
Do you plan out the restaurants you’re going to eat at when you go on vacation or do you fly by the seat of your pants? We have learned from experience that minimal planning is the best choice for us. We always have a handful of places we want to try but if something better pops up we go with the flow! I will never be one of those people who has to have every minute of their vacation itinerary scheduled out!
