I am constantly looking for ways to make the items in my closet go a bit further. You’d be surprised how many different ways things can be worn with a little bit of creativity! The night before our weekend trip to Nashville I went out looking for something new to wear and came up completely empty handed. That’s just as well because I really didn’t need anything and it forced me to take a hard look at some things I already have! I knew we were going to be doing a lot of walking, visiting some breweries, and heading to a concert in Nashville. So, I opted to wear jeans but I wasn’t feeling like any of the tops I had were working. I kept eyeing this dress in my closet, wishing I had a similar top.

I tied a knot in it and a ta-da! It worked perfectly as a top! I found this dress on mega sale at the cutest boutique, Peacocks & Pearls, here in Lexington. I am sure it was on sale because of the rust color – a fall color for sure! But you know what? I don’t subscribe to the idea of putting away items due to season change. Okay yes, some things- I’m not wearing sweaters in the summer! But I can easily pair a rust or mustard color with a pop of turquoise or pink and instantly feel summer ready!
So go shop your closet with an open mind! I bet you’ll find some items you can remix in ways you didn’t realize. Feel free to reach out if you need some help with your closet – I’m only an email away!
