Happy birthday to my SEVEN year old tiny bebe Cohe Happy birthday to my SEVEN year old tiny bebe Cohen! He rolled his eyes at me when I said it’s crazy that he went from 6…to 7! If you know you know.

Cohen is so sweet, kind, helpful, and smart. He loves building hot wheels tracks, setting up play areas for his little brothers, swimming, NASCAR, baseball, and never sitting still or being quiet… ever. 😆

I’m so thankful God chose me to be his mom! I love you Cohen!! Happy birthday!!

I have the MOST FUN any time I’m in front of Michelle’s camera. She is so fun to hang out with and it ends up being the best girl time + hair and makeup! Y’all know I have 4 kids and I work from home.. I don’t get to feel fancy very often! If you like laughing until your cheeks hurt (your face cheeks) and feeling 🔥 - book a shoot with her! 10/10 highly recommend.

Thank goodness for spring. 🌸 2026 has been kin Thank goodness for spring. 🌸

2026 has been kind of a weird, wild ride so far, but full of good things. I started a new job! And that has taken up a lot of my time (in a good way), so I’ve been a little bit quiet around here.

I’m trying as hard as I can to prioritize myself more these days. Finally went to the doctor and did some blood work. Turns out, I’m severely anemic. I’m hoping I’ll start feeling better and little more awake after I start my iron. 😅 Maybe I can lay off the coffee a little bit. (J/k)

I can’t believe it’s almost April after we went through 3 years of January, but I’m not mad about it! Ready to relax outside on patios with family/friends and enjoy our kiddos running around. We made it. 🖤

Stay tuned.😉

26 Before 27: Learning the Art of Aerial Silks

26 Before 27: Learning the Art of Aerial Silks
(photo credit: here, here, + here)
I’ve been thinking a lot about my “26 Before 27” list lately and what should make the final cut. In case you aren’t sure of what I’m talking about – this is simply a list of 26 things I want to do before I turn 27. Twenty-seven sounds so much older than twenty-six, in my mind. Maybe it’s because I always thought to myself that I’d be around twenty-seven when I had kids, because that’s close to how old my mom was when she had me and I’d totally have all of the details of my “adult life” mapped out by then. *blink, blink* Yeah, right! Does anyone ever “feel” like an adult, completely and totally in control? Twenty-seven used to sound so FAR in the future and now it’s almost here, ya know? I assumed I’d have done a lot of things by now that I haven’t. I tend to make unattainable mini goals that keep me from actually trying/doing anything. For example, I’ve wanted to learn the art of aerial silks for quite a while. I saw a fellow blogger posting photos on Instagram and I became mesmerized with the idea of it. Last night I discovered a Groupon for a place here in Lexington offering classes. I almost immediately hit “Buy” – but then I started to think about it a little more.

The wheels turned in my mind: I have almost no upper body strength – I’m going to be horrible at this! OR what if I fall in love with it after a few classes? It will be EXPENSIVE if I want to continue doing it after my 5 classes are over. And then I realized that this is the reason why I don’t do anything for myself. I overanalyze everything. I take things too seriously. I ‘what if’ everything to the point that I can’t decide on anything, I get frustrated, and say NEVER MIND. I drive Nate bonkers with this kind of stuff because he simply decides to do things and then he does them. So after telling him about it and receiving some encouraging words I decided I have to try it. There is no doubt that it will be difficult. I’m in no way delusional about how this will start out at first – frustrating and very probably, painful. Haha. But I can stick with it for at least 5 classes! I’m hoping a friend will go with me. Though I’m pretty sure she’ll be a natural with her history as a dancer/gymnast and I’ll be over there flopping around and trying to hang on. ;]

So, this is the first addition to my “26 Before 27” list and I’m well on my way to achieving it. I think this will be a fun and hilarious journey to take you guys along with me on so stay tuned! In the mean time… I’m going to go do some pull ups and attempt to delude myself into thinking that I’m going to eventually quit my day job and join the circus. The circus without clowns… because.. you know.. Nate hates clowns.

Have you ever tried anything like this? I’d love to hear all about it!!

I think this is awesome! there's a dance school near me that has classes to do Aerial Skills but I can't afford them. I tried a Pole fitness class and loved it, but again can't afford to continue to do it right now. I think you will love it!

They really are so expensive. I never would have decided to try it if not for the Groupon. If I do end up absolutely loving it so much I can't live without it, I guess I will cross that bridge when I get there! 😉

My friend tried this and she said it really wasn't about upper body – you mostly rely on your core! So might be something interesting to try :]

That's a little comforting – I think I have more core strength than upper body strength – but not a lot! I'm going to start working on that a little bit before I go to any classes!

I started classes about six months ago. 🙂 It's funny how suddenly it's popping up everywhere! It's so much fun, and honestly, I never did gymnastics as a kid, or dance, and I still manage! It's a lot about core strength so do loads of push ups and sit ups and you'll be fine. 😉 I'm warning you though – it's addictive!

Ahh, yay! So glad to hear from someone who is currently taking classes. 🙂 You give me so much hope that I will love it! I'll definitely be working on my core before I go!

I think I saw that Groupon and it looks really fun!! Let us know if you try it!

I've done lists like that before (26 before 27 and 28 before 28). I've also on my second time of doing 101 in 1001.

Congrats!! It really is such a fun exercise. For me, it has become more than a work out, really…it’s a way of life! (Yes, I’ve been drinking the Kool-Aide) I hope you enjoy it, can’t wait to read all about it. 🙂

I found your blog through a google search to find clothes for aerial silks. Its so crazy that I basically had the same experience you described! I started watching cirque videos while researching the circus to teach my Pre-K class. I had always liked the silks performances and after much research realized I needed to take a class instead of teaching myself. Low and behold, there was a place not 40 mins away and surprise surprise, a groupon! I debated the same stuff – never having much upper body or core strength and afraid I would love it and be addicted. After talking through all my points with the husband, I signed up for the workshop and loved silks. I'm now in the 3rd week of silks class and love it so much! The first week I was terribly sore and miserable hoping it wouldn't always be like that. After the second week though, barely sore and so looking forward to the next week. I am also wondering how this could transition to pregnancy (which might be in the future) and was so encouraged to see you could do it for a bit AND pick it back up again. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I am so glad you found my blog, Sami! I love connecting with other people who have fallen in love with silks! 🙂 And yes, I was so glad to be able to continue doing silks well into my pregnancy. It kept me feeling great!
