It’s remix time, Guys and Dolls! I decided to style up my bold printed Forever 21 dress with a bit of a different flare than the last go-round. One of my favorite (and easiest) ways to remix a dress is to simply wear another skirt over it, creating the illusion of a top and a skirt. This can change the entire way that you look at your closet and give you so many more options. I also do this with rompers!
Back when Jackson and Kristie were living in Cincinnati and we drove up to visit all of the time I always wanted to be super comfy on the drive there (ahah, the one hour drive there…) and then if we were going out fairly soon after we arrived I would want to change and be “going out” ready. BUT, no one ever wanted to wait on silly ol’ me to change and do a bunch of unnecessary nonsense just to walk over to the bar next door. So I would wear a romper on the driver up, and the shorts would get all bunchy and wrinkled. And then I would slap a skirt on top of it. Tada! No changing time, no wrinkles, and no one calling me from the kitchen- “ARE YOU READY YET DUMMIE?!” ;] (that was my impression of Kristie, which she will love! <3 <3 <3) (and to my knowledge she never yelled that at me.. but it makes the story better.)

And remember the original outfit?

I wore this to work today, without the skirt. I work with a lot of staples. Mesh/tulle material + staples = bad. I had to wear my black leggings due to the shortness of the dress, and my little black boots went perfectly. It’s the complete opposite of how I styled it last time by adding the brown belt and wedges, so it was fun to play up the black for the first time! It’s been a bit on the chilly side again around these parts, so I was very comfy in my little black boots and leggings! I’m hoping my warm weather returns again soon, though.

Where did you get that tulle skirt?!?! MUST HAVE!
Haha, it's from Forever 21. It was part of their Circus Collection. I bought it 2 years ago this August.
Of course you had to wear leggings- wouldn't want any old fart complaining that they can see your legs, hahaha.
And I really like this idea! But…would it work in hot temps? I think I might die trying it in the summer 😡
Yep- you got it!
And if it's a flowy skirt and dress I never really notice it making much difference in the Summer. I've even done it in FL a few times, with this skirt actually!
ps- that wasn't suppose to be an angry face at the end. sigh.
that's such a cute outfit.
