He loves his carseat, car rides, and stroller rides. He seems to really enjoy being out just about anywhere! Being at home is just too boring and quiet! He has been to Target, Meijer, the farmers market, out to lunch at Cheddar’s, the mall, the waiting room at the doctor for two hours – no crying and if he did get a little fussy he calmed right down. Completely amazing considering there have been many days and nights at home when we could not calm him. He loves being worn in the Moby wrap. He has been sleeping pretty consistently in his bassinet (which we love). Sometimes he just really needs to sleep on me but for the most part he is content to sleep right next to me. Most of the time he goes three hour stretches without waking. We’ve had a few off nights recently where he woke up a lot more or wouldn’t go back to sleep but I think that’s normal! He loves to look around at everything and is particularly in love with the big map in our living room. If he is anywhere near it he won’t look at anything else! He has smiled a “real” smile at us a few times but doesn’t do it regularly yet. He has to be swaddled in order to sleep at night but must have his hands out above his head. Also: white noise is our best friend! He will take a bottle with breast milk and a pacifier just fine and has since he was 2 weeks. He still has all of the beautiful dark hair he was born with! His big almond shaped eyes are still blue and he has the longest eye lashes! He rubs my arm when he nurses. It’s the sweetest thing. At his last doctor appointment he was 8 lbs 15 oz and that was a few weeks ago! He is getting so big so fast! He’s already outgrown a few of his newborn outfits. *queue the crying*
I think it’s safe to say that we’re pretty in love with this little boy! I will not sugar coat it: there have been some extremely hard days. Thankfully we’ve had lots of help from family and friends to get us through! The good far outweighs everything else. We can’t imagine our lives without him and I can hardly remember what we were even doing before we had a tiny human to care for 24/7. ;] We’ve been able to go out on two date nights while my parents watched him – a little reminder that we can still get out and enjoy each other even though we have a baby. It has been so good for our sanity!
I can’t wait to start blogging again regularly – baby things, fashion things, Pure Romance things, aerial things! I feel so behind but I’ve had to just put it all aside and let myself adjust and focus on being a new mom. Looking forward to getting into a routine of sorts now that I’m getting the hang of it!
