Today turned out to be a pretty busy Saturday. When I woke up this morning I thought it would be a pretty slow day at home. We had plans to meet a friend at 4PM to sell my Nikon D5000 (I just realized I never blogged about my *new* camera- what!?), but that was about it! I woke up full of motivation around 9AM and started working on Excel spreadsheets/budget goals, because I’m insane (SLEEP IN WHEN YOU CAN). Nate’s Mom called and invited us to go out to lunch a little later, so we did. Later on we took the Christmas decorations down, sold the camera, ran out to buy a “use your own coffee” filter for our new Keurig (INSTANT COFFEE. HOORAY!), visited the “Lincoln” Mural downtown, took lots of photos at some of our favorite spots around town, played Trivia with friends (WE WON FIRST PLACE!!!), and now I’m in bed. PHEW.
Our photo was taken at the “Lincoln” Mural here in downtown Lexington, KY. It was painted by Eduardo Kobra, a Brazilian artist who has painted community relevant murals in New York, Los Angeles, São Paulo, and Moscow. Abraham Lincoln was born in Kentucky and is the only President to date who was born here. I think it’s so fitting that they chose this image for the mural! If you’re ever in Lexington, make sure to stop by and see it! It’s sort of hard to do it justice in a photo. I feel like you can’t fully grasp how large and colorful it is until you see it for yourself in person!
Do you have any cool street art in your town/city?
Love this photo 🙂 And what a busy day! I live about 40 minutes from Bristol in the UK which is where Banksy is from, so the city is coated in his art! x
That's awesome! Sadly there's not a lot of street art in my town (it all gets removed quickly). I used to tag as a teenager, but didn't have stencils or anything, so it was never sophisticated!
