I’ve had this Anberlin tattoo floating around in my brain for yearsss. Finally talked through it with a friend, shared my ideas with @alexandratattoo , and she made them all come to ✨LIFE!✨ Had the best time enjoying several hours of girl talk, good music, and tattoo therapy with her - truly it is therapy and she is the best of the best!!!

I’m not sure I could ever put into words what Anberlin’s music has meant to me over the years. If you feel that way about music in any capacity - you get it. It’s definitely one of those ‘if you know, you know’ things. My Dad was a musician and he certainly passed that feeling down to me. Love that I carry that with me!

And now I get to carry pieces of my favorite band with me. 🖤🎶

Cohen is so sweet, kind, helpful, and smart. He loves building hot wheels tracks, setting up play areas for his little brothers, swimming, NASCAR, baseball, and never sitting still or being quiet… ever. 😆

I’m so thankful God chose me to be his mom! I love you Cohen!! Happy birthday!!

I have the MOST FUN any time I’m in front of Michelle’s camera. She is so fun to hang out with and it ends up being the best girl time + hair and makeup! Y’all know I have 4 kids and I work from home.. I don’t get to feel fancy very often! If you like laughing until your cheeks hurt (your face cheeks) and feeling 🔥 - book a shoot with her! 10/10 highly recommend.

Brewing The Perfect Cup of Coffee With Shuffle Bean Coffee & Chemex

Good morning, friends! Today I want to share one of my favorite ways to brew coffee! I am one of those stereotypical mommas with a coffee addiction. Just slap one of those “But first, coffee” t-shirts on me paired with my LuLaRoe leggings, a messy top knot, and a mug that says “Mom Fuel” on it. So basic. I know. But the way I brew coffee is anything but basic.

Don’t get me wrong – I like my instant cup coffee too! Sometimes you just need a dang cup of coffee in 15 seconds. But most mornings I enjoy taking a few more minutes to make coffee in my Chemex.

Using a Chemex coffee maker is (in my opinion) the simplest way to make a smooth and delicious pot of coffee. All you need is a Chemex (here), a paper Chemex filter (here), boiling water, and good COFFEE. The Chemex is made of glass – there are no tiny parts to clean. This is a BIG deal for me because let’s face it friends, I am lazy. I would never clean something with a bunch of little pieces to wash and sanitize. I want to mention that up front because some of you are already looking at this thing and thinking that it is going to be difficult to use. It isn’t.

My favorite coffee to use is Shuffle Bean Coffee. Good quality coffee is always a good start! I personally like to grind my own coffee with this inexpensive little grinder, so I use whole bean coffee. Shuffle Bean coffee can be purchased as whole bean (here), pre-ground (here), and in k-cups (here)! So if you’re just looking to improve your instant cup experience- grab the k-cups!

First things first, I fill up my electric kettle (I use this one) to the 1 liter mark and turn it on. I have a medium size 6-cup Chemex and this is the perfect amount of water for me because I make an entire pot and heat it up throughout the morning. You can obviously just boil a few cups of water on the stove but electric kettles are seriously handy to have and super affordable! There are specific instructions that come with the Chemex for how hot the water should be. I take the kettle off the burner or turning the kettle off just as it starts boiling.

While the water is heating up I put the filter in the top of the Chemex and drip a little hot water from the sink into it and swirl it around to get the filter settled and stuck to the glass. I pour out that water. Then I put my coffee in. I eyeball it but ideally, you should use 1 TBS of coffee per 5 oz of water. But hey, go crazy and make it really strong if you want! I fill the grounds up to the top of the wooden sleeve for the amount of water I use. The electric kettle is usually boiling by the time I’ve completed these steps. I immediately pick it up and pour just enough water into the Chemex in a circular motion to get the grounds wet and let it sit for about 60 seconds. This allows the grounds to bloom. Then I continue with the rest of the water, waiting for it to drip down between pouring. Once all the water had dripped down you can pick up the filter and toss it!

The result is a super smooth cup of coffee. Honestly, I can drink Chemex coffee without creamer because there is no bitterness to it. I kind of love flavored creamer so I still put a little bit in! It’s a more involved process than pushing a button and getting a single cup of coffee but it tastes so much better!
