What I Wore · February 8, 2017

What I Wore: Gap Black Jeans & Bite Beauty Lips

What I Wore: Gap Black Skinny Jeans
Well hey y’all! Sorry about the radio silence around here! I took a small break to refocus a bit and I’m feeling refreshed! The holidays were a bit chaotic so it was nice to take a step back. I find that the winter time is one of the most difficult times of the year for me in terms of creativity. It’s just so easy to want to stay inside and hibernate. I feel like the things that I have been wearing over the last few months have been a reflection of that.

I’ve been throwing around the idea of doing a capsule wardrobe. For anyone who doesn’t know what that is: a capsule wardrobe is a collection of a few main staple pieces with just a few seasonal items mixed in. So basically, you purge your entire closet except for the basic items that you love and wear often. These pieces should be easy to mix and dress up or down. Then, each season you are “allowed” to add a few new key pieces in and of course replace anything essential that may be worn out. I love the idea of owning a minimal amount of clothing that all works together. It sounds so effortless.

I currently have a closet that is slightly out of control. I have so many things that just don’t feel like me anymore. But I am also one of those people who will keep something and not wear it for a few years and then suddenly fall back in love with it. It happens, and when it does it reinforces my hoarding tendencies.

All of this to say that high rise black skinny jeans were at the top of my capsule wardrobe wish list. And while we were in the mall over the weekend wandering around we came across a buy one get one FREE deal at GAP on all of their jeans. So, Nate and I both got a great pair of jeans! Score!

I’m planning to go through my closet soon and do a trial run – see what I have that I feel could work as a “staple” piece and decide what I need. I’m not going to get rid of a ton of stuff just yet, but I might put a lot in storage just to see how I like downsizing. I know, I know – it’s kind of cheating! But people *cough* hoarders *cough* like me need to take baby steps.

And how fantastic is this Bite Beauty lipstick in Whiskey? Influenster sent me The Lip Pencil Box to review and I am obsessed! I received this color along with a lip pencil to match and a second set in a lighter color. I would never have picked such a dark color for myself normally but I really like it a lot!

So, ever done a capsule wardrobe? Would you be interested in seeing how many different outfits I can create out of just a few staple pieces? I think it would be an interesting experiment to document! Also – are there any makeup trends out there that you thought would look bad on you that you ended up loving? Maybe there are some other things I need to try out!

**I received this lipstick complimentary of Influenster. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
