What I Wore: To Keeneland

Let’s preface this whole thing by saying that horse racing is still kind of.. confusing to me. I like to bet on the pretty horses or the horses with cute names and I’m really just not ashamed of that strategy regardless of how well it works- it’s fun. I tried really hard to look at all of the stats this time: how old the horses were, how many races they’d placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in, their jockey’s stats, etc. and guess what? Yep, I still sucked. I have a love/hate relationship with the whole idea of gambling. I’m really not sure how many times I told the entire table that I could have bought a new this or that with that $15 I just lost. The few times I did win something though? Pretty worth the thrill! I only took $25 and I managed to not loose it all. I can’t wrap my head around the idea of betting hundreds and hundreds of dollars. Of course, I get upset when we have to throw away food that goes bad before we can use it.. legit upset over like, $2 worth of squash. So yeah, I don’t see myself ever developing a gambling problem.However! I do see myself dressing as if I’m going to Keeneland every day! I kind of love the simple things, so getting all dressed up with friends to go hang out, eat good food, and wear a big hat? I get pretty giddy about stuff like that. This outfit was thrown together pretty last minute. I came across this hat and top at a yard sale the weekend prior for a total of $3! The hat still had the Forever21 tag attached. Score! I’m really not sure what I would have worn if not for those new key pieces. Nate said I looked like a pilgrim in this outfit and my only comeback was, “A really STYLISH pilgrim.” so… who wants me on their debate team? (I don’t think I’m really stylish, by the way.. but maybe if I was a pilgrim?)
