What to Do After Your Offer Is Accepted

What to Do After Your Offer Is Accepted

Have you just had your offer accepted and now you’re sitting there thinking, “Okay… now what?” First of all—congratulations. Buying a home, whether it’s your very first or your fourth, is a huge milestone and you deserve to soak that in.

Once the excitement settles a bit, it’s totally normal to feel unsure about what comes next. There’s a lot happening behind the scenes during this stage, and no one really hands you a step-by-step guide. The good news? There are a few simple things you can start doing now that will make moving day (and the weeks leading up to it) feel so much smoother.

Book Your Removals Help Early

One of the easiest places to start is lining up help for moving day. Depending on how much you have, you may need a van or two and a small team to help get everything from A to B. Booking early usually gets you a better price—and it also guarantees the company you actually want isn’t already booked out.
Before you choose anyone, take a peek at their reviews on places like TrustPilot or Checkatrade. It gives you a good idea of who’s reliable and who to skip.

Get Your Insurance Sorted

This part isn’t glamorous, but it is important. As soon as you exchange contracts, you’re legally responsible for your new home—so things like Buildings Insurance need to be in place right away.
You’ll also want to look into contents insurance, and anything else that fits your situation. If you’re unsure, a quick call with an insurance provider can help you figure out exactly what you need.

Plan Ahead for Repairs and Cleaning

If you noticed anything during the viewing that needs fixing—especially plumbing issues—it’s worth getting quotes now so you can book a professional plumbing team as soon as you know your move-in date.
A lot of people also like to have a cleaner come through before moving any boxes in. Walking into a fresh, spotless home on day one just feels good.

Moving into a new place is such an exciting season, even if it comes with a big to-do list. What are you working on first as you get ready for your move? And is there something you’d add to this list? I’d love to hear!
