THIS LEXINGTON LIFE

Building Our First Home

in Home, Lifestyle on 08/11/19

waiting for a hint of spark
I’m sharing a little walk down memory lane over on my YouTube channel this morning (watch it here). It’s so crazy to think about how fast 9 years came and went! Nate and I were just about to get married, fly to Hawaii for our honeymoon, and return to our brand new home. I remember how big that house felt when it was just Nate & I! It looked almost unlived in for the longest time while we slowly accumulated hand me down furniture and hung things on the walls.

I am so grateful for that house and all of the memories we shared there but I was so ready for this next chapter. That was the only thing that got me through taking on the wild home buying and selling process at literally the most hectic possible time – right after having a baby! But I could feel it in my bones. We needed to do this. It was time. I just knew the house that was meant for us was out there and waiting, ready. And it was.

It’s still so much fun to look back on these photos and think about how exciting it was to be able to BUILD our own home. We chose the floor plan and picked out every single detail. I requested that our bathroom plans be completely changed to accommodate a garden tub because that tub and a walk-in closet were my two priorities! Ha! It’s funny how things change, though I do really miss my tub! A laundry room, office, and basement were some of my top priorities for the new house and I’m so thankful we were able to find a home that had everything we were looking for. I’ll always miss our first home but it truly is amazing to me how easily I fell in love with our new home. We still have so much to do to really make it ours but it honestly felt like home the very first time I walked through the front door, look oasis natural cleaning. I’ll never forget that feeling.
