In light of the give away that I will be posting tomorrow I thought I would share with you a few of my favorite recent Instagrams! No these are not recent photos, but I love taking some of my most beloved shots and “instagraming them”. It’s a great way to incorporate them into a project like the window frame that I’m going to be hanging in the living room filled with photos. The window is very old and I want all of the pictures to resemble old photos and to be the same size, so what’s more perfect than using Instagram and having them printed in perfect little squares?

The first two are from our engagement session and the bottom two are obviously from our big day! You might notice that the bottom right photo looks a little grainy compared to the others. This is because I didn’t use a high enough resolution photo.
01: Upload high res photos to a host like Flickr.
I suppose you could just upload photos directly from your computer to your phone but most of my photos are on Flickr so it’s a bit easier for me to go on there and save a photo to my phone.
02: Make sure the photo is at least 600×600.
There’s nothing more frustrating than thinking your Instagram is good quality and then realizing you can’t print it because while it looks ok on your phone, it would be really grainy printed or even used on the web. If you’re using Flickr you’ll need to go to the desktop site in your browser and click “view all sizes”. The app will not let you do this.
03: Save the photo to your phone and upload in Instagram!
If you are using a vertical photo and you don’t want to crop it, use the Squaready app to keep it full size in Instagram. After you’ve uploaded head over to your PostalPix app to print your Instagramed photos! And if you’d rather display them on your fridge (or other favorite metal surface) you’ll want to stick around for tomorrow’s giveaway to win your very own set of Stickygram magnets!

L to R: Stair kisses at home, shopping in Ohau on our honeymoon, seeing Greenday in 2009, and a smooch from yesterday (taken with my iPhone!).

I so want to make magnates out of my photos. I can't wait to see how yours turn out.
ps. your comment box tells me my website url is wrong? when I try to leave it in the box
That's strange! I'm not sure why. Has it always done that?
not always, but sometimes it does. I'm not sure why.
I just love you two! And I miss you. Neil and I are coming to Lexington March 22nd till the 25th for a wedding I’m shooting on the 24th. We should TRY to get together, the four of us!
I miss you too!!! I would love that. Let's make it happen!!
Interesting approach. I have photoshop "actions" that make my pictures look like instagram shots. They are really fun and I love that I get the effect at full resolution!
I like those too, but I think for my project it will be super easy to use the Instagram printer to get them the perfect little square sizes!
aww! these are adorable! i love insatagram
