It took me a long time to decide what to put on our walls. Nate and I aren’t big “art people” and while I feel like I have my own style that I love, I’m very indecisive (and on a budget). After living in our home for almost 8 years I have finally figured out exactly how I want to decorate our space. Here are a few tips that I have put together for personalizing your home with unique art after taking SO long to find what I love.2. Decorate based on your location/where you call home. – We Kentuckians have quite a bit of state pride, so I love our gold foil print of Kentucky! And as a Florida native, I also purchased the foil print of the Tampa/St. Pete area where Nate and I got married. I still haven’t found the right frame for that one! Nate and I love to travel so our very first purchase was a large map of the US that we had framed. We stick little push pins in it that are color-coded depending on where we’ve been together or by ourselves. He got that idea from his Grandparents who traveled to all 50 states and had a similar map hanging in their basement. I love it and it’s pretty big so it is the focal point of our living room.
4. Print your photos! – Seriously. Print out your photos regularly and hang them up. Don’t let your memories go to waste stored on your computer hard drive! I print mine about twice a year through Shutterfly and switch them out. It makes me so happy to see all of our beautiful family photos around our home.
5. Display your art and photos in a unique way. – I have a large old window hanging in my living room which I have strung twine inside of to hang photos. It matches the style of my house and feels much more interesting to me than if I just hung them in simple frames. Put up shelves, too! I have the Kentucky foil print and the Dapper and Darling silhouette sitting on individual shelves. It makes them stand out a bit more!
