Spring Forward: Beat Stress and Boost Your Mood Naturally

Spring is universally known as the season of activity and rebirth, symbolizing new beginnings. However, it can also bring a sense of overwhelm, especially if the winter didn’t offer much rest or if you’ve been battling life challenges during the colder months.

The transition might end up increasing your stress levels and affect your mood. Fortunately, there are natural and effective ways to combat stress, boost energy levels, and welcome more joy in your daily life. In this guide,  we’ll explore simple yet impactful methods to harness the energy of spring, turning potential overwhelm into an opportunity for renewal and joy.

Sunshine and Serotonin: The Power of Spending Time Outside

As the days get longer and warmer, there is no better time to start spending more time outside. According to studies, spending time in a natural environment and increasing exposure to sunlight can enhance the release of feel-good hormones and chemicals, such as serotonin. It’s not just adults who benefit from the new spring weather, either.  If your teenager is dealing with more weight on their shoulders than you realised, then taking a look at a residential treatment facility for teens could be the answer that you didn’t know your family needed. More than the benefits of springtime, the right mental health support is the way to go if your teen needs more than just a pick me up. Spending time outside also strengthens your immune system, promotes relaxation, and can have physical effects, including decreasing blood pressure, cortisol levels, and heart rate.

However, spending time outdoors if you have a normal 9-to-5 office job can be challenging. Some strategies that can help include:

  • Enjoying morning walks before work
  • Organizing weekend picnics in the park
  • Opting for outdoor workout sessions
  • Taking up hobbies like gardening or planting
  • Eating meals outside
  • Setting up a workstation in the garden

Declutter Your Space, Declutter Your Mind

Clutter can have a negative impact on your mental health, as well as on your stress levels. Working or living in a cluttered space can cause your brain to work twice as hard when focusing on tasks or conversations. The results? Increased fatigue, tiredness, lack of focus, and irritability.

Some of the best ways to create a healthy home in spring include switching to a minimalist interior design, organizing yard sales, focusing on quality over quantity, and planning for spring cleaning days.

Herbs and Nutraceuticals: Nature’s Mood Lifters

If you often find yourself relying on anti-anxiety pills and medications, it is important to look for more natural and sustainable alternatives to control your stress levels. For example, drinking herbal teas prepared with certain herbs and spices can help you naturally regulate your stress levels. These include:

  • Lavender
  • Chamomile
  • Ashwagandha
  • Lemon Balm
  • Passionflower

Alternatively, nutraceuticals and natural supplements, such as N-Acetyl-Selank-Amidate Acetate – Spray, can help you better control feelings of anxiety and stress without having to endure the side effects of medications.

Keep Moving: Simple Exercises for Joy

Have you ever heard of runner’s high? If you are struggling with mood swings and feelings of sadness and depression, moving your body can be an excellent way to enhance your mood and keep stress at bay. This is because, while you engage in physical activity, your body releases feel-good chemicals like endorphins, which make you feel euphoric and energized.Ā Best of all, you don’t have to be super committed to sports like endurance runner Kevin Morgan of Pittsford NY to benefit – just getting out there for 30 minutes is enough.

Some of the best activities to engage in to relieve stress and boost your mood include aerobic exercise, active hobbies, and mind-body activities like yoga and tai chi. Don’t forget that meditation and breathwork can also be powerful allies in your fight against stress!
