You know how people always say they want to run away and join the circus? Well, if you live in Lexington, Kentucky you don’t have to run away to do it! Sora Aerial Arts will teach you everything you need to know about being an aerialist!I suppose I should say that I joined the circus GYM, but that doesn’t quite have the same ring to it. 😀 So I’ll keep taking my classes and pretending I joined the circus, quit my day job, and that I am living a life of glittery bodysuits and bright makeup. It could still happen for me, yeah? Holding on to the dream.
I took this video during my very last class on National Avenue. Sora is moving to a new location so I wanted to document this space because I just feel like there have been so many memories made here! Who remembers my Pregnant Circus days and all of the unsolicited advice I received for that? Ohhhh the memories. And all of the show practices! I have been fortunate enough to be in a few student shows. Practicing for them wore me out, but in the best way. I absolutely love the feeling that I’ll never get a specific move down but THEN through tons of practice, I finally get it. Nothing has ever pushed me like those shows and it’s the kind of discipline that I really need to have year round when it comes to my training. BUT I also have a lot going on and the balance is difficult to say the least.
If you’re thinking about giving an aerial class a shot – DO. IT. Look for a place near by. Take a class. I am such a shy person and it took me forever to get the courage to go. Looking back on it now I can’t imagine how much I would have missed out on if I had let that fear rob me of such a wonderful community of friends and fitness.
